West Lafayette launches RFQ for street redevelopment PPP project

The government of West Lafayette, Indiana, has launched a request for qualification (RFQ) for the State Street Redevelopment PPP project.

The project is a collaborative effort between the City of West Lafayette and Purdue University. The goal is to remake State Street, from the Levee, through downtown West Lafayette and Purdue University, out to the newly opened western gateway, into a more desirable destination for the local community and visitors.

Specifically the project aims to:

  • improve traffic safety and mobility
  • simplify transportation network
  • construct new gateways and transportation expansion
  • provide enhancements

Interested firms are expected to submit a statement of qualifications by July 2 outlining their design, construction and financial capabilities to be considered for the project.

Once the RFQ process is complete, the Joint Board will then release a request for proposals (RFP) to the selected firms in early summer with final proposals due by the end of the 2015 calendar year. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2018.

David Buck, chairman of the Joint Board and West Lafayette's public works director, said

"The RFQ is incredibly important to the decision-making process because it tells us who is qualified to take on a project of this magnitude, and if they'll ultimately do what's best for West Lafayette and Purdue University."
