Highways England in the UK has delayed the procurement process for the A303 Stonehenge road project to 2021. The authority has already qualified three bidders for the project, further steps will be taken in 2021 considering the situation due to coronavirus.

The project will establish a dual carriageway between Amesbury and Berwick Down to replace the existing single carriageway, which runs past Stonehenge and through the village of Winterbourne Stoke. It will also involve a new junction west of Stonehenge, to ease congestion on the A303 and A360, as well as a link to Winterbourne Stoke. The estimated investment required for the project is GBP 1600 million (US$ 1983.4 million). The road will increase the speed and capacity of the traffic flow as well as avoid passing through the Stonehenge monument.
