The city of Bangalore, which is located in the southern state of India, Karnataka, is proposing to use the PPP procurement mode for the development of a metro ring project, undergorund the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) and the NICE Road. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is leading the initiative.

The urban development ministry of India has told BMRCL to consider Hybrid- annuity model for the construction of the proposed project and to prepare a pre-feasibility report for the project. After the success of Hyderabad metro on PPP concession, the ministry is considering PPP concession in metro rail projects around India to reduce the burden of foreign loan.

A part of the first Metro ring will be completed under Phase 2A between KR Puram and Silk Board junction. Tenders for the construction of the elevated stretch are under consideration.
