Bids invited for University of Dar es Salaam's new buildings construction across several campuses in Tanzania

The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) has invited bids from contractors to construct new buildings across several campuses in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The project is divided into two packages, which have been further divided into lots:

Package 1 – Lots 1, 2 and 3:

  • Lot 1: Construction of Textile building, Workshops building, Laboratories building and Rehabilitation of Block Q, O and L at UDSM  College of Engineering and Technology (CoET), MJNM campus in Dar es Salaam;
  • Lot 2: Construction of Gender and Special Needs building and Postgraduate Hostel building at UDSM MJNM campus, Dar es Salaam; and
  • Lot 3: Construction of SoAF building at UDSM (Kunduchi Campus), Dar es Salaam and CoICT building at UDSM (Kijitonyama Campus), Dar es Salaam.

Package 2 – Lots 1 and 2.

  • Lot 1: Construction of Administration and Academic building and student hostel building at UDSM (Buyu campus, Zanzibar).
  • Lot 2: Construction of administration and Lecture hall-Ngongo campus, Lecture Hall- Ruangwa campus, Workshop-Lindi campus, Students hostel building-Ruangwa campus, Students male hostel building- Lindi campus, Students female hostel building- Lindi campus, Laboratory building-Lindi campus and Cafeteria building-Lindi campus at Ngongo, Lindi and Ruangwa campuses, Lindi. 

The duration of the project is 18 months for both packages. The Government of Tanzania has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project through the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoEST) and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for the Construction of UDSM Buildings.
