Brazil finalizes USD524.3 million transmission line PPP Project

Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (ANEEL) in Brazil has held final approval for transmission line concession covering four southern states of the country. Under the concession, ANEEL plans to auction construction and maintenance works of 902 kilometers long transmission lines and the development of 750 megavolt-amperes (MVA) substation transformation. The project is expected to provide services in states of Amapá, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Paraná and São Paulo.

The project will be implemented into the following five lots :

  1. LOT 1: 284 km long 500 kV transmission line connecting Ponta Grossa to Assis and 79 km long 525 kV transmission line connecting Bateias to East Curitiba;
  2. LOT 2: 500 kV substation at Olindina II to facilitate the connection between the 500 kV and 230 kV transmission line;
  3. LOT 3 : 147 km long 230 kV transmission line connecting Rio das Éguas to Rio Grande II and 18.5 km long 230 kV transmission line in Barreiras;
  4. LOT 4: 500 kV narrow Synchronous substation in state of Minas Gerais;
  5. LOT 5: 10 km long 230 kV transmission line in Macapá with 2 nos 230/69 kV transformers;

The construction works for the project are scheduled to be completed within 36 to 60 months after the award. ANEEL plans to hold an auction for the project on December 17, 2021.
