Brazil launches tender notice for USD548 million sewage system PPP project 

The Government of the State of Alagoas in Brazil has published a tender notice seeking private partner to provide water supply and sanitary sewage services to 61 municipalities in Alagoas. The concession is divided into two blocks B and C. Block B covers Sertão regions and part of the Agreste while Block C covers the Eastern regions and part of the Agreste. The project aims to serve an estimated population of 1.3 million people.

The private partner will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of water production and treatment phase as well as distribution of treated water to users and the entire operation of the sanitary sewage systems. The scope of works also involves expansion and improvement of collection systems, expand the reserve capacity, expand the control of losses and fix irregular connections, implement a collection network and sewage treatment stations in municipalities with more than a thousand inhabitants.

Estimated investment value for the project is BRL2.9 billion (US$548.33 million). The project will reduce the current loss rate of 48% to 25% in 12 years. The universalization of service to the municipalities in Blocks B and C with 99% of urban coverage of water supply services is targeted to be achieved in the first five years. 

The deadline to present the proposal is December 08, 2021. The auction for the concession will take place on December 13, 2021 at Sao Paulo exchange. For more information about this tender notice, visit our business opportunities page here.
