Caixa Economica Federal (FEP-Caixa) in Brazil has selected 46 municipalities under the Federal Government's Investment Partnership Program (PPI) to develop a public lighting system under public-private partnerships (PPP). Selected municipalities will formalize the contracting process under the adhesion contract with FEP-Caixa.

The municipal public lighting (IP) parks are made up of more than 18 million light points, representing 4% of the country's total energy consumption. In 2013, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) transferred all assets under management of the electric energy concessionaires to the city halls.
