Brandon University, located in the west of Manitoba province, Canada, has published a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) for the development of a mixed-used complex in Downtown Brandon with substantial residential spaces for students, as well as commercial space, community-use space, public plaza space and academic space.

The complex is envisioned as housing traditional sequential students as well as mature students, students with families, and nontraditional students, as well as other types of housing.

The RFEOI targets qualified proponents who have the interest and means to develop preliminary proposals for The Downtown Development Project for presentation to the Board of Governors with sufficient detail to allow the Board to select a proposal that may then be pursued through to full development and operation with that proponent.

The university has emphasised the possibility for options that go beyond or outside the specific scope outlined in the RFEOI, and that it welcomes wide-ranging and creative responses that fulfill the larger vision. For example, there are a number of other properties in the immediate vicinity that may add to the feasibility of any proposed development.

Responses to the RFEOI are due by 3 August 2018, with selected proponents to be contacted no later than 31 August 2018. Preliminary proposals will be due by 31 December 2018.
