The authority awarded the concession contract to First Sky Limited on July 22, 2022. The concessionaire will be responsible for conducting works on a 23 km stretch of highway including the construction of a 16.3 km long two-lane single carriageway road and a 2.8 km long dual carriageway with auxiliary lanes for drop-off/pick-off on both sides. The scope of the works also includes the development of pedestrian walkways, rehabilitation of pavement, improvement of drainage along the road, road marking, traffic lights and signs.

The estimated investment value for the project is US$35 million. The Government of Ghana and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has provided funding for the works. Once complete, the road will provide an alternative connection between the regions of Accra and Aburi.
