Tutor Perini Corporation announced that it has been awarded a contract by the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) valued at approximately US$2.95 billion for the Design-Build Program for the NYC Borough-Based Jails System, Brooklyn Facility.

The contractor will replace the outdated Rikers Island prison with a smaller network of modern, safer jails. The new facility is being designed to meet modern standards for safety, rehabilitative services, and accessibility, and will feature amenities such as outdoor recreation areas, educational and vocational programming spaces, and meeting rooms for legal and other visits. The project is being overseen by the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC).

Design work is scheduled to begin upon receiving a Notice to Proceed, which is anticipated in June 2023. The contract value will be added to the Company's backlog for the Q2 of 2023.
