Incheon International Airport Corporation has won the tender to modernize and operate Urgench International Airport in Khorezm, Uzbekistan.
This initiative, structured as a public-private partnership (PPP) under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, entails the private partner overseeing the construction and management of passenger and cargo terminals, including ground handling services. Meanwhile, the public partner will be responsible for developing and managing the airfield infrastructure, such as the runway and apron.
The tender process commenced on August 1, 2024, and was conducted openly. It involved two stages: a Request for Qualifications (RfQ) and a Request for Proposals (RfP). Out of eight participating companies, five advanced to the final round, with Incheon International Airport Corporation ultimately selected as the winner.
Incheon International Airport Corporation is renowned for operating Incheon International Airport, which ranks among the top globally in terms of international cargo volume and passenger traffic. In 2024, Incheon handled over 70 million passengers, reflecting its extensive experience in airport operations.
