The Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) has selected UNStudio, HKS and Gehl Design to create system-wide architecture and urban design for the light rail program of Project public-private partnership (PPP) Connect in Texas, USA.

The team will develop a human-centric, system-wide transportation system for the Project Connect light rail program. The design team has international experience in the implementation of public transport projects. The project includes the development of a new rail system, a downtown transit tunnel, an expanded bus system with an all-electric fleet in Austin, Texas. The project also entails the development of an all-electric bike fleet stationed at transit hubs. The project will make more neighborhoods accessible and affordable while promoting sustainable growth and development.

The project vision will be delivered in partnership with the City of Austin, CapMetro, and the ATP community for equity, sustainability, and transparency. Project design studies will begin in March 2023 and will continue throughout the development of the project. In the spring of 2023, ATP will share the light rail system plan.
