Details emerged about USD240 million road PPP project in Panama

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) of Panama has met with transport and agricultural leaders in order to provide the details about the Pacora-Yaviza road PPP project. 

The project involves the rehabilitation of the Pan-American Highway (CPA) East section, which runs from Las Garzas de Pacora to Yaviza in the province of Darién. The section has a total length of 247 kilometers. The estimated investment in the project is PAB240 million (US$240 million). 

This is the first project that is intended to be carried out through the modality of PPPs and indicators by performance standards, that is, it seeks to maintain the quality of the work in terms of roads. 

At the moment, the road project is in a feasibility-level structuring study stage. The tender process is expected to start in the first months of 2022.
