The Government of Chile has announced the opening of economic proposals presented by Grupo Costanera SpA for a third access concession for Arturo Merino Benítez Airport.

Following the award of the project in Q2 of 2023, Grupo Costanera SpA will take over the contract, which will start in 2024. The UF843,000 (US$35 million) project involves the redevelopment of the access road for Arturo Merino Benítez Airport. Located in the Santiago metropolitan area, the route is around 10 km long and includes South Access (Sector A) and North Access (Sector B). The scope of works consists of increasing the capacity of the dual carriageway by adding two lanes in each direction and the construction of a new single carriageway, a link to the North Access of the Airport and Las Lilas road, three bridges as well as one underground pass.

The project also includes the creation of uneven intersections, pedestrian crossings, footpaths, new roads, bike paths, sanitation and sewerage works, as well as road lighting, bus stops and emergency telephones.
