Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the USA will accelerate the progress on I-4 ultimate project on the governor's orders. The Florida government has prepared a list of transportation infrastructure which will be accelerated in coronavirus shutdown, which included US$ 2.3 billion I-4 project. Due to 30-day shutdown there will be less vehicular movement on the stretch which will benefit the construction works for the project.

I-4 project provides a crucial link between Tampa on the west coast and Daytona Beach on the east coast. I-4 consists of seventy-three (73) miles of roadway in Central Florida and accommodates an average of 1.5 million trips daily in Osceola, Orange, Seminole and Volusia counties. The I-4 corridor is also considered a Designated Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) Highway Corridor link of the state's intermodal transportation network.

The construction works for the project will be completed two or three months before the scheduled completion. The plan is to complete main travel lanes through the downtown corridor and enable crews to add new connections to major access points.
