The Ministry of Transport and the General Company for Airport and Air Navigation Services, Iraq, has issued a tender invitation to firms bidding for a contract to develop the Baghdad International Airport PPP Project.
The deadline for submissions is September, and the notice was sent out in July. As per the Iraq's Ministry of Transport stated in an official statement, ten of the fourteen international consortia that showed interest in the project earlier this year have been prequalified to compete for the competition.
The project's anticipated US$400 million to US$600 million scope includes airport rehabilitation, expansion, financing, operation, and maintenance. This airport PPP project is the first to be introduced in Iraq. It is anticipated that the airport will initially handle about 9 million people before progressively growing to 15 million.
The project's principal transaction adviser is the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a division of the World Bank Group.
Iraq's Ministry of Transport has appointed a consortium for the construction of the US$17.5 billion Baghdad Metro Rail Project.
