Governor announces high interest of the private sector in PPP of the transmission and distribution system of the AEE

The Authority for Public-Private Partnerships of Puerto Rico (AAPP) received the qualifications of 5 private proponents interested in managing and operating all facets of the power distribution and transmission system of the Electric Power Authority (AEE) through the public-private partnership model.

The AAPP will carefully evaluate the responses to the request to identify those private companies that meet the minimum requirements necessary to carry out the transformation and modernization of the Puerto Rico energy system.

Once this process is done, the Town will be notified of the companies that prequalify to continue the process transparent and open to comments for the evaluation of each proposal.

The proponents submitted their qualifications before the deadline on December 5, 2018, and include regulated international energy companies.

On the other hand and with the purpose of continuing to promote this project successfully, AAPP, the Authority for Financial Counseling and Fiscal Agency of Puerto Rico (AAFAF), and the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau (NEPR) signed a collaboration agreement whose purpose is to facilitate the implementation of public energy policy.
