Greece announced tenders for 5 PPP projects

The Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced tenders for 5 public-private partnership (PPP) projects with a total budget of EUR1.2 billion (US$1.205 billion):

  1. Thessaloniki Metro Network PPP project for 12 years with a budget of EUR292 million (US$293 million) involves the operation and maintenance of a metro infrastructure network and concerns the main line and the extension to Kalamaria. It aims to improve public transportation by upgrading the infrastructure and reducing traffic difficulties as well as pollution levels in the city. It will strengthen the local economy and improve the quality of life and safety of residents and visitors.
  2. Greek EO2 road axis PPP project with a budget of EUR358.8 million (US$360.5 million) involves the upgrade of EO2 road axis connecting Thessaloniki to Edessa in Greece. The scope of work includes improvements on the bridge section of the Axios river to Edessa, Mavrovouni to Edessa section, bypass of Giannitsa, and bypass of Chalkidona. The project aims to improve competitiveness and enhance export-oriented extroversion.
  3. Drama to Amfipoli road PPP project with a budget of EUR200.4 million (US$201.3 million) involves the construction, operation and maintenance of the modernization of the national road Drama - Amphipolis. Other options are the rehabilitation and widening of sections of the road or the construction of new sections 43 km long in the sections from Paliokomi to Mavrolefka and from Mavrolefka to Drama.
  4. Enipeas Farsala River Dam PPP project with a budget of EUR185.5 million (US$186.3 million) involves the development of a 77 m high and ridge length 850 m Enipeas Farsala River Dam in Palioderli, Greece. The scope of work includes the construction of a river dam as well as water distribution networks and other related infrastructure. The project aims to improve water management, optimization of existing irrigation methods and provide good quality drinking water in the city of Farsala and 31 settlements in the Farsala region.
  5. Tavronitis River Derianos and Semproniotis Dams PPP project with a budget of EUR215.4 million (US$216.4 million) involves the development of Derianos Dam and Semproniotis Dam at Tavronitis river, Crete, Greece. The scope of work includes the construction of Derianos Dam and Semproniotis Dam as well as connection tunnel to reservoirs, water transfer, and distribution works.
