Greece approves five new projects worth EUR 310 Million

The Inter-Ministerial PPP Commission in Greece approves five new projects on PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode. The total investment required for the projects is EUR 310 Million (US$ 347.57 Million). The projects are road upgrade in the area of southwest Peloponnese, Athens, Central Macedonia and Epirus and development of social infrastructure in the Academy of Athens.

Road upgrade works in Athens and regions of Central Macedonia and Epirus in Greece includes improvement in road lights and road networking. This project offers local and regional authorities economic, environmental and technical benefits such as quantitative and qualitative upgrading of urban lighting, saving energy and resources, and upgrading the services provided to citizens. 

The other project of road upgrade in Peloponnese includes improvement in road infrastructure security. The scope of work also includes tourist upgrading of the area by combining existing and planned transport infrastructure and ensuring fast and safe travel. This project will result in a reduction in transport costs and an increase in the competitiveness of the primary and secondary sectors of the region's economy.

Infrastructure development at the Academy of Athens project includes building a culture and education wing, a new museum, and a library. The project will help to satisfy modern educational requirements and will enable the Academy to participate actively in important educational and research events, domestic and international, hosting conferences, seminars, workshops. The new wing designed to accommodate the museum with the exhibits of the Academy and its central library is expected to make it possible for the general public to contact museums and scientific and cultural heritage products that are currently unavailable.
