Greece approves four PPP projects worth EUR425.2 million

Ministry of Development and Investments in Greece has approved four PPP projects with a total budget of EUR425.2 million (US$465.30 million). The ministry also modified the scope of one PPP concession. These four new PPPs are the following:

  1. Technology Dissemination Center of Kozani: construction and technical management of the Technology Dissemination Center of the Active Urban Planning Zone of Kozani as well as sports facilities in school premises as well as new school buildings. It will cover the social, economic and educational needs of citizens living and working in the wider area of ​​Kozani. It will contribute both to the cultural development of the region and to the creation of a high level of educational and sports infrastructure.

  2. Santorini Waste treatment system: construction and operation of an integrated waste treatment system in Santorini, one of the most touristic destinations in Greece. It will promote green, cyclical and sustainable development with respect for the environment and emphasis on improving the quality of life of citizens.

  3. Karditsa Irrigation network: construction and operation of irrigation networks in the regional unit of Karditsa. The existing irrigation system in Tavropos of Karditsa is damaged to a great extent due to the recent natural disaster. It will restore the damaged systems as well as achieve water savings, streamline irrigation conditions and increase arable land.

  4. Messinia Irrigation network: construction and operation of the Minagiotiko dam and the irrigation network in areas of the Municipality of Pylos - Nestoros. The irrigation needs will be covered that will satisfy demands for high yield crops and problematic sections of existing rural roads will be restored.

The funding also covers the modification of an already approved PPP project of a new Amphitheater building at the University of Crete. The new building will cater to the needs of the students. The modifications of this concession is within the original budget approved for the project.
