IFC launches tenders for Barbados Airport

The International Finance Corporation, a unit of World Bank, has launched tenders for interested firms to deliver legal and communications consultancy services for the development of the Barbados Airport. 

IFC is seeking a Communications Consultant to provide assistance in its advisory mandates as the Lead Advisor to Grantley Adams International AirportInc. (GAIA Inc) for the implementation of the airport under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. The Communication Consultant will be required to provide assistance to IFC and GAIA with tasks including (1) Stakeholder mapping and analysis, (2) design and implementation of a public relations/communications plan, which includes a public communications strategy along with strategic guidance for approaching the stakeholders and the media, coordinating with public sector PR officials as needed; and (3) prepare a communication and management plan and put it in place to tackle possible issues/situations with reputable risks. 

IFC is also seeking a Legal Consultant to support in the implementation of the project. The tasks include: analysis of general legal issues that would affect the feasibility and implementation of the concession of GAIA to a private operator, including tax, labor, environmental, and the institutional and regulatory frameworks for the airport; analysis of the current reforms being prepared or implemented in Barbados affecting the airport sector, analysis of the international practices and comparison to those in Barbados, etc. 

The deadline for the submission of documents to participate in the tender is on April 22, 2019.
