IFC to support multi million hospital PPP project in Pakistan

International Finance Corporation (IFC) has signed an agreement with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP) province to help arrange a public-private partnership (PPP) for the construction of a hospital in Peshawar.

The project will consist of up to 500 beds and is expected to serve over 150,000 people annually. It will be the first greenfield PPP project in the healthcare sector in Pakistan. The new PPP asset complements a USD400 million project, sponsored by the World Bank, which aims to strengthen the healthcare system of the province.

Under the agreement, IFC will support the GoKP in structuring the PPP transaction, as well as assist in a competitive bidding process to select a private developer and operator for the hospital, which will provide tertiary care.
