Maharashtra Chief Minister inaugurated Phase 2A of Mumbai Metro Line 3, extending the Aqua Line from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli, Mumbai, India.
Mumbai Metro Line 3 marks the city’s first entirely underground metro route. When fully operational, it will cover 33.5 kilometers, connecting Colaba in South Mumbai to SEEPZ in the north, with a total of 27 stations. The newly launched 9.77 km segment features key stops such as Dharavi, Sitaladevi, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, Worli, and Acharya Atre Chowk. A standout engineering achievement in this phase is the section between Dharavi and BKC, which includes a tunnel running beneath the Mithi River. The initial phase, covering a 12.69 km stretch from Aarey JVLR to BKC, is already in service. With the launch of Phase 2A, the only remaining segment under construction is the final 13 km stretch from Worli to Cuffe Parade, which is part of Phase 3.
The newly operational segment allows commuters to travel from BKC to Acharya Atre Chowk in approximately 15–20 minutes, with trains running every 6 minutes and 20 seconds. Fares range from ₹10 to ₹40, depending on the distance traveled. This phase is part of the larger 33.5 km Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ corridor, Mumbai's first fully underground metro line, expected to be fully operational by August 2025.
