The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a Record of Discussions with the Government of the Republic of India in Delhi for the Project for Station Area Development (SAD) along selected stations of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project.

The project for SAD contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 11 Sustainable cities and communities and involves enhancing the capacity of state governments, municipal corporations, urban development authorities and National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited to plan the development of areas surrounding MAHSR stations.

The MAHSR project involves the development of a 508 km high-speed railway between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in India. The project is also known as the Bullet Train Project and is divided into several parts.
