Metito submits lowest bid for sewage treatment plant PPP in Saudi Arabia

The Water and Electricity Company (WEC) of Saudi Arabia has announced the prices proposed by bidders for the Dammam West Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP). The authority is currently seeking a private partner to develop, finance, operate and maintain the plant, which is to have capacity to treat of up to 330,000 m3/day.

Seven bids were received in response to the Request for Proposals, issued by WEC in March this year. A consortium of Metito Utilities Limited, Mowah, and Orascom Construction, have submitted the lowest price proposal, with a levelised cost of SAR1.268/m3 (US$0.336/m3).

Other companies involved in the bidding process, in ascending order of price proposals, are:

  • FCC Aqualia / Nesma Holding Co. Ltd. / Abdul Latif Jameel Commercial Development Company
  • SAUR SAS / Civil Water Company / Técnicas de Desalinización de Aguas, S.A. (highest price proposal: SAR2.619/m3 (US$0.698)/m3.
