Mexico announces planning of seven transportation PPP projects

The Ministry of Communications and Transportation of Mexico has announced the promotion of seven PPP projects in the areas of road and rail infrastructure. The total potential investment of these developments is more than MXN 44 billion (US$2.19 billion). Once operational, the projects will improve the transportation communication between the north and south of the country. 

The following projects are part of this promotion:

  • Rail corridor redevelopment project in Monterrey- involves the reorganization of the existing rail corridor in the Monterrey Metropolitan Area and covers a route of 62 kilometers;
  • Interserrana Highway PPP- involves the design, build, operation and maintenance of a 103.22-kilometer highway to connect the Matehuala-Saltillo highway with the Ciudad Victoria-Monterrey highway;
  • Tulum Bypass PPP in Riviera Maya- involves the design, build, operation and maintenance of a 26-kilometer highway;
  • Libramiento Sur de Pachuca road PPP in Hidalgo- involves the design, build, operation and maintenance of a 25.8- kilometer motorway;
  • Bypass of Cihuatlán road PPP in Jalisco and Colima- involves the design, build, operation and maintenance of a 6.3-kilometer highway between the states of Jalisco and Colima;
  • Champotón Bypass PPP in Campeche- involves the design, build, operation and maintenance of a 16-kilometer highway;
  • Internacional Mesa de Otay II crossing road PPP- involves the construction, operation and maintenance of a new border crossing between Mexico and the USA in the state of Baja California.
