European Commission (EC) and the Vietnamese government have signed a new financial agreement to enhance Hanoi's sustainable urban transport system.
The extension of Metro Line 3 aims to address the infrastructure, transport, and environmental issues in Hanoi resulting from rapid urbanization. The technical assistance project signed will initially fund a feasibility study to extend Metro Line 3 from Hanoi Train Station to Hoang Mai. Additionally, it will update Hanoi's urban transport master plan and enhance management capabilities. This EUR10 million (US$ 10.8 million) project is implemented through a Team Europe approach, supported by the European Union under its Asia Investment Facility, along with the French government's Development Agency AFD and the Government of Vietnam.
