Uzbekistan Airports, Urgench International Airport and Incheon International Airport Corporation (South Korea) signed a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement for the modernization and management of Urgench International Airport in Tashkent.
South Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corporation plans to invest US$132 million in developing and operating new passenger and cargo terminals at Urgench International Airport. Under the PPP arrangement, both parties will collaborate to modernize and manage the airport. The private partner will handle the construction and operation of the terminals and provide ground handling services, while the state partner will be responsible for the runway, apron, and other airfield infrastructure development and operations.
In April 2025, it was announced that Incheon International Airport Corporation would take over management of Urgench International Airport after winning the related tender. The PPP project is valued at approximately US$222 million, with the private partner contributing US$115 million toward airport modernization and overseeing its operations through 2047.
