Maryland Transportation Authority Board Members have voted in favor to approve the selection of consortium Accelerate Maryland Partners. After this decision, the consortium will move forward with the development of improvements on the American Legion Bridge I-270 to I-70 Relief Plan.

The Accelerate Maryland Partners LLC team consists of Transurban (USA) Operations Inc., Macquarie Infrastructure Developments LLC, Dewberry Engineers Inc., and Stantec Consulting Services Inc.

In May 2021, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) scaled back initial improvements on the capital beltway highways to focus on the construction of two high-occupancy toll lanes for a stretch from Interstate 270 to I-370 and the new American Legion bridge.
