Department of Municipal Affairs & Transport of Abu Dhabi, UAE has selected Tatweer for Traffic Assets & Systems Operation and Management LLC (Tatweer) as preferred bidder for a street lighting project in the city. The project involves up-gradation and replacement of 43,000 street lights across Abu Dhabi with energy-efficient LED lights. The concession period for the contract is 12 years and the project will be procured on design, build, finance, operate, and maintain (DBFOM) mode.

Tatweer will be advised by the AEC Illuminazione SRL in the technological aspects of the project.

The up-gradation is expected to reduce the consumption of energy by 900 million kWh, valued at approximately US$ 71.88 million during the concession period. It will also increase the safety of traffic on roads.
