Procurement process delayed for Western Rail Link to Heathrow PPP

The Network Rail in the UK has announced that the procurement process for Western Rail Link to Heathrow PPP Project has been delayed by two years due to COVID - 19. The project will develop a new rail link between the Great Western Main Line in the Langley area of Berkshire, the county to the west of London, and Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport, located 23km west of Central London. 

The procurement is divided into three major packages namely Langley Works, Bored Tunnels, and Railway Systems Fit-out of the tunnels. The estimated project cost is GBP 900 million (US$ 1.2 billion). The procurement process for the PPP is likely to be processed in the summer of 2022.
