Progress on Caacupé hill section of Route PY02 highway in Paraguay

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) in Paraguay has announced the progress on the south Caacupé hill section of the Route PY02 highway public-private partnership (PPP) project in Ypacaraí, Paraguay. 

The paving works are progressing continuously on the PY02 route. The next step includes paving works with the extended tread folder (MAC2) in the southern binary of the Caacupé hill. The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Rutas del Este, who is in charge of the project, stated that the works of the rolling folder in this sector range from km 46 to km 48.5 (ascending lane). Work is also ongoing at five locations: section 1.1. (from km 40.5 to km 49); section 1.2. (km 59.2 to km 73.7); Caacupé variant; Itacurubí de la Cordillera bypass and Coronel Oviedo bypass.

The Route PY02 highway PPP project involves the duplication and expansion project of the Route PY02 highway, from the Ypacaraí detour to km 183. The works include the conversion of the existing highway into a four-lane one and of the current route to a dual carriageway.
