The Agency for the Promotion of Private Investment (PROINVERSIÓN), has published the work entitled " 20 years promoting infrastructure and public services " for the period 2002-2022 in Peru.
According to PROINVERSIÓN, during its 20 years of existence, it conducted 199 public-private investment bidding processes from 2002 to 2022, resulting in a total investment of over US$ 36.4 billion. Out of this total, 96 processes were carried out through the PPP mechanism, amounting to US$ 28.990 million. Among the awarded PPP projects, 70 were Greenfield projects, while 25 were Brownfield projects. The average number of pre-qualified bidders per PPP project was 4.5, indicating that the entity has implemented competitive selection processes for the awarded projects. Additionally, the average duration from approval to contract signing for the 96 awarded PPP projects was 109 days.
The sectors that have experienced significant benefits from this type of investment include communications, with 25 awarded projects totalling an estimated investment of US$1,753 million; mining, with 17 awarded projects amounting to US$4,281 million; agriculture, with 13 awarded projects totalling US$33 million; real estate, with 10 awarded projects amounting to US$261 million; and electricity, with nine projects awarded for a total of US$553 million. The book further reveals that between 2008 and 2022, public entities have granted 514 Works for Taxes projects, amounting to a committed investment of US$ 6,733 million. These projects have provided infrastructure and improved public services, benefiting approximately 21 million Peruvians.
