Public consultation issued for concession of highway network in Brazil

The Ministry of Infrastructure (MINFRA) with the support of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has issued a public consultation for the process of granting 2,565 kilometers of highways.

The project is part of a contract to structure a concession on 8,300 km of federal highways. It is organized in four lots divided between the states of Rondônia, Mato Grosso and Goiás. The scope of the project also includes the development of 20 km of an additional lane on a double lane near Goiânia, 164 km of duplications, of which almost 140 km between Vilhena/RO and Porto Velho/RO 824 km of third lanes on a single lane, construction of the Goiânia/GO bypass connecting the BR-050 highway to the BR-153 highway, with 39 km and the Porto Velho/RO bypass. The project will form a logistical corridor from Porto Velho, in Rondônia, to the port of Santos.

During the public consultation period, the local population will be able to give their opinion on the project. The concession has an estimated investment of  BRL13.6 billion (US$2.39 billion) with a concession period of over 30 years.
