Public consultation launched for Pernambuco highways PPP

The government of the state of Pernambuco in Brazil, with support from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), has launched a public consultation process for three highway concessions in the state.

Together, the concessions will involve the implementation of 234.6 km of highway stretches connecting 21 municipalities in Pernambuco. The highways included in the study are PE-090, PE-050 and PE-060:

  • PE-090: 107.6 km long stretch connecting Carpina to Toritama;
  • PE-050: 86.5 km long stretch connecting Cabo de Santo Agostinho to São José da Coroa Grande;
  • PE-060: 40.5 km long stretch connecting Vitória do Santo Antão to Municipality of Limoeiro.

The estimated investment value for the project is BRL1.13 billion (US$206.91 million) with a concession period of 30 years. The concessions aim to improve connectivity, safety, and provision of such services as medical attention and mechanical winch for 1 million inhabitants.
