Public consultation launched for USD1.17 bn highway concession in Brazil

The government of Minas Gerais and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has launched a public consultation for four lots of the State Highway Concession Program. The lots are approximately 1,500 kilometers long and include routes located between Varginha and Furnas (432.8 km), Lagoa da Prata and Itapecerica (442.9 km), Arcos and Patos de Minas (231.3 km) and in the region of São João Del Rei (452 ​​km).

The estimated investment value for the project is BRL6.6 billion (US$1.17 billion) over the 30 years of the concession, with a CAPEX value of BRL2.7 billion (US$478 million) in the first six years. 

The Highway Concessions Program in Minas Gerais foresees the modeling of seven lots, and those referring to the Triângulo Mineiro, Sul de Minas, Varginha-Furnas, São João Del Rei, Itapecerica-Lagoa da Prata and Arcos-Patos de Minas. The network understudy for the concession totals an extension of approximately 3,000 kilometers and covers around 120 municipalities, directly benefiting more than 5 million people.
