The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced the deadline for executing the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for the Interstate 10 widening project in the USA.

The Calcasieu River Bridge widening Project has the following Benefits:

  • Reduced traffic congestion: The widening project will add two additional lanes to the bridge, significantly increasing capacity and reducing congestion, especially during peak travel times;
  • Improved safety: The wider bridge will provide more space for vehicles, improving sightlines and reducing the risk of accidents;
  • Enhanced economic development: Improved traffic flow will benefit businesses and industries in the region by facilitating the transportation of goods and services; and
  • Increased resilience: The new bridge will be designed to withstand stronger storms and hurricanes, improving long-term reliability.

The project's duration has been prolonged until February 1, 2024. Encompassing a new Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles and Westlake, the PPP proposal, initially submitted by Calcasieu Bridge Partners on June 6, 2023, was initially slated to conclude on December 3, 2023. The decision to extend the validity period of the proposal allows for additional time to engage in limited negotiations and obtain requisite approvals, ultimately aiming to progress the project.
