RFEOI for USD1bn hospital development in Australia

The Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority has released an invitation for Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced consortia for the design, construction and maintenance of the AUD 1.495 billion (USD 1 billion) new Footscray Hospital in Melbourne.

The new Footscray Hospital will be built next to Victoria University’s Footscray Park campus, on the corner of Geelong and Ballarat Roads. It will replace the ageing Footscray Hospital on Gordon Street, which was built in the 1950s.

With an increase in capacity of almost 200 beds, the bigger and more modern new Footscray Hospital will mean more people can access quality care, closer to home. The new and expanded hospital will cut wait times and allow almost 15,000 additional patients to be treated and almost 20,000 additional people to be seen by the emergency department each year. There will also be more outpatient, palliative care and mental health services.

The new Footscray Hospital is to be delivered as a public-private partnership under the Partnerships Victoria Framework.

The new hospital is expected to open in 2025.

Expressions of Interest are now being sought from experienced, committed consortia via the Buying for Victoria website (tenders.vic.gov.au) from 20 June 2019.

The deadline to submit applications is on July 24, 2019.
