Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) in Saudi Arabia has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to ten shortlisted companies for the development of an independent power plant in Taiba located near the Medina region. The gas-fired plant will have the capacity to produce 3,600MW of electricity. 

The pre-qualified companies are :

1. Abu Dhabi National Energy Company
2. EDF S.A.
3. General Electric Company
4. International Company for Water & Power Projects
5. JERA Co., Inc.
6. Kahrabel FZE
7. Korea Electric Power Corporation
8. Marubeni Corporation
9. Nebras Power Q.P.S.C.
10. The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc

The selected firm will enter into a power purchase agreement with authority for a duration of 25 years.
