RFP launched for fiber optic network PPP in Arizona

Yuma County in Arizona, USA has launched a request for proposal (RFP) seeking a private partner to construct and maintain an affordable, reliable and scalable fiber-optic middle mile network to support next-generation high-speed broadband internet for businesses, residences, and other entities as well as a private wide area network (WAN) to interconnect county buildings located throughout Yuma county.

The private partner will provide :

  • Fiber to the premise for all residents and businesses in more populated areas, with a minimum starting speed of 1Gbps for residents and 10Gbps for businesses
  • Fiber to the tower for wireless service to residents, businesses, and agricultural areas where fiber to the premise is not feasible or is cost-prohibitive
