RFQ issued for multimillion road PPP project in Canada

Alberta Transportation in Canada has launched a request for qualifications (RFQ) seeking a private partner for Deerfoot Trail Improvements from Stoney Trail South to Stoney Trail North in Calgary, Alberta.  The private partner will be responsible for Design, Build, Financing, and Operation.

The scope of works involves design and construction of :

  • approximately 35 kilometers of new and existing six- and eight-lane divided freeway (Deerfoot Trail), and nine new roadway bridge structures, between Stoney Trail South and Stoney Trail North
  • twinning of the Ivor Strong Bridge over the Bow River
  • modification of the system interchanges at Bow Bottom Trail/Anderson Road, Glenmore Trail, and Beddington Trail
  • modification of the service interchanges at Southland Drive, Heritage Meadows Road/11th Street, 17 Avenue NE, Memorial Drive, McKnight Boulevard, and 64 Avenue NE
  • widening of an additional basic lane in each direction through the Bow Bottom Trail/Anderson Road, Glenmore Trail, and 17 Avenue interchanges and from 17 Avenue to Airport Trail/96 Avenue NE
  • rehabilitation of existing pavements between the Ivor Strong Bridge and Stoney Trail North

Alberta Transportation will provide partial funding for the project in an amount currently anticipated to be between 30% and 50% of the successful bidder’s capital cost of the project. The successful bidder will be required to supply private financing for the balance of the capital cost of the project.
