Rumo Logistics, a unit of the Cosan Group, is set to issue two series of debentures which are estimated to total at least BRL1 billion (US$244.49 million) and will be used to finance the development of the Norte-Sul railroad in Brazil.

In August 2019, the company has been awarded the concession contract for the BRL2.72 billion (US$692 million) railway project by Agência Nacional de Transportes Terrestres (ANTT) in Brazil. The project involves the concession of the North-South railway, which will pass through the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, and Tocantins in Brazil. The stretch will be 1,537 km long and will connect Estrela D'Oeste to Porto Nacional. This rail stretch will enable cargo transportation from the Midwest and flow through both the Itaqui Port and the Santos Port.

The project is expected to be operational by 2021.
