A consortium of Sacyr Group and Agunsa has offered the best deal in the tender for the expansion and concession of Chacalluta Airport in Arica, a port city in northern Chile.

The four interested parties have bid for two different tranches. Tranche A considered the rate per passenger on board at a maximum of US$6,879 for fixed concession term of 180 months (15 years). Tranche B proposed a variable term of the concession between 15 to 20 years at a fixed rate of US$6,879.

The Sacyr-Agunsa consortium has bid in tranche A with the lowest passenger fare rate of US$6,868. Construction company A Port also bid in this tranche at a rate of US$6,877.

Other interested companies, Belfi and Icafal, both bid for tranche B at a proposed concession term of 195 months.

The bid of Sacyr-Agunsa emerges as the lowest and the most advantageous proposal since the most relevant consideration for the Concession Department is the cost per passenger rate.

Construction works for the airport are expected to start in 2020.
