Saudi Arabia's Water & Electricity Company announces preferred bidder for sewage treatment PPP at Jeddah Airport

The Water & Electricity Company (WEC) of Saudi Arabia has named the consortium consisting of Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (a subsidiary of Marafiq), AlAmwal AlKhaleejiah AlThania (Amwal AlKhaleej) and Veolia Middle East (Veolia) as the Preferred Bidder for the independent sewage treatment project (ISTP) at Jeddah Airport. 

The consortium will develop, finance, construct, operate and maintain a sewage treatment plant with capacity to treat 300,000 m3/day. The project site is located to the north of Jeddah, with the plant to serve the approximately 4.5 million residents of the city as well as governmental, agricultural, commercial and industrial facilities.

The consortium will sign a 25-year sewage treatment agreement (STA) with WEC for the entire sewage capacity of the plant, which will be supplied by the National Water Company (NWC).
