State of Alagoas held auction for two sanitation blocks in Brazil

The State of Alagoas has organized action of two sanitation blocks B and C for the concession of water supply and sewage services in São Paulo, Brazil.

The winners are the following: the consortium Alagoas, owned by Allonda, and the consortium Mundaú, owned by Cymi. The total proposal presented by the companies is BRL1.645 billion (US$289.76 million). The project will expand and improve collection systems, reserve capacity as well as develop a collection network and sewage treatment stations.  The concession period will be 35 years.

Alagoas consortium proposed BRL1.215 billion (US$214 million) for block B, which comprises regions of Agreste and Sertão. Mundaú consortium presented a proposal of BRL430 million (US$75.74 million) for block C, which involves the Zona da Mata and the coast of Alagoas. Together, the blocks will cover 61 municipalities and a population of 1.30 million people.
