Victorian Health Building Authority has issued a tender looking for a building contractor to provide building and facility construction and maintenance services for the Hospital Day Rehabilitation Centre project in Bendigo, Australia.

The new facility will be developed on the Bendigo Hospital site, which includes several aged buildings in poor condition. The estimated total investment in the project is AUD60 million (US$46.47 million). The scope of work will include:

  • Consolidation of rehabilitation health services into a centralized facility utilizing an existing retained building (the Hyett-Phillips buildings across Lucan Street Site);

  • Construction of a new hydrotherapy pool;
  • Demolition of the North Wing (B7-A) and East Wing (B7-B) tower buildings, the John Lindell Rehabilitation Unit (B7) and the Hydrotherapy Pool (B7-C) which will be returned to the community as public green open space.

Construction work is expected to start in 2021, and the facility will be in operation by 2023. The project will create up to 180 construction jobs for the local regional community.
