Tender for USD 921 million university campus in Italy

The University of Milan in Italy has issued a contract notice inviting private developers to participate in the tender for the development of a new EUR 826 million (USD 921 million) campus of the University of Milan. The project includes design, construction and management of the new campus.

The scope of works involves drafting and execution of the project, management, and supply of the relative services and maintenance works for the 27 years following the delivery of the completed works. 

The private partner will be responsible for the final and executive design on the basis of the technical and economic feasibility project presented, the execution of the works, the management of the entire complex, the ordinary, planned and extraordinary maintenance of all the buildings, the plants and the works of the same. The total concession period will be of 31 years.

The concessionaire can set up free commercial activities, considered by him to be more profitable, whose use is instrumental and technically connected to the work to be entrusted in concession.

The deadline to submit the response to the notice is December 20, 2019. The opening of the envelopes containing the offers is scheduled for 9 January 2020.

The completion of the work is scheduled for the spring of 2025.

The new campus will cover the area of 2,500 sq. meters and will be located in Milano Innovation District (MIND). MIND is a science, knowledge and innovation district on the former 2015 World Expo site in Milan and will feature university campus, hospital, an international research centre with new housing, student accommodation, business and retail. MIND project entails converting Expo 2015 site into a scientific and technology centre of excellence in the fields of Life Sciences/Healthcare, Biotech/Pharma, Agri-food/Nutrition and Data Science/Big Data.
