Tender issued for multimillion motorway PPP project in Pakistan

National Highway Authority (NHA) of the Government of Pakistan has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the delivery of Kharian – Rawalpindi Motorway in Punjab.

The project intends to connect Lahore (the capital city of Punjab) with Rawalpindi/Islamabad, via a shorter route of Sialkot, Kharian, Gujrat and Jhelum en route. The Kharian - Rawalpindi is a 117 kilometers long, 4-lane motorway project with a concession duration will of 25 years. The project will be developed on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) PPP model. 

The motorway is expected to be completed by March 2024. The NHA will provide a total of PKR7,500 million (USD42.6 million) as capital Viability Gap Funding (VGF) during the construction period in the form of Equity.
