Tender issued for USD625 million highway concession in Brazil

The Government of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil has launched a tender notice seeking a private partner(s) for block 3 of highway concession in the state. The project works involve rehabilitation of 271.54 km long sections of ERS-122, ERS-240, RSC-287, ERS-446, RSC-453 and BR-470 highways.

The private partner will be responsible for the duplication of a 116.4 km highway as well as the construction of 53.96 km of third lanes, 10 km-long bicycle lanes and another 30 km of side roads. Apart from highways, the private partner will also implement 45 new footbridges, 110 intersection devices, a cycle path connecting the cities of Caxias do Sul and Farroupilha.

Estimated investments of BRL 3.4 billion (USD625.11 million) will be made in expansions and improvements that will provide greater traffic flow and safety by reducing the number of accidents. The auction of the project will be based on the lowest toll rate, with no discount limit, but with a requirement to contribute equity for each discount percentage point.
