Terna Energy and TITAN participate in tender for waste treatment projects in Greece

The tender issued by Eidikos Diabathmidikos Syndesmos Nomoy Attikis for the development of waste treatment plants in Piraeus and Attica (Greece) has finalized on September 22, 2021.

Among other developers, a joint venture formed by TERNA Energy and TITAN Cement Group has submitted letters of interest to participate in the first phase of the tender. Two Mechanical & Biological Waste Treatment (MBT) plants will be located in the Central Circular Economy Park in Attica and the Circular Economy Park of Piraeus. Both projects are implemented as a public-private partnership and will be procured under Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer basis.

The MBT in Attica involves the following scope of works-  exploitation of waste from the municipality of Attica and treatment of the collected waste as well as all the by-products. The waste treatment plant in Piraeus includes the exploitation of recyclable materials, alternative fuels, compost and process the collected waste as well as produce electricity and/or thermal energy from collected waste.
